The Early Swiss pioneers of Santa Clara, enjoyed decorative paper cutting as a craft and tradition. Santa Clara was isolated and had no general store to purchase holiday cards. So paper cut cards were skillfully done by many of the women and then given away a commemorative gifts.
The Santa Clara History Museum has many of these old paper cuttings on display and also for sale.
